In our monthly reading group, we discuss interesting books, articles, and podcasts related to EA concepts.
Our professional meetups give space for people with similar professional backgrounds (law, finance, tech etc.) to collaborate.
Our dedicated cause area groups provide opportunities to connect on particular issues such as animal welfare, environmentalism, and AI safety.

Students can get involved with university clubs like the ones at Columbia, NYU, or Rutgers - or make their own! Professionals can bring EA to their workplace in a number of ways. Chat with us if you’re interested in professional or university organizing!
As the New York EA community grows, we’re also creating new ways to get involved and support the group. We’re currently looking for anything from getting snacks for events, to coordinating outreach, to finding new board members - and everything in between! In the Global Community:

It’s difficult to work out how we can best help contribute to solving global problems, and learning more is often a really useful place to start. For more reading, you can check out the concise EA Handbook. For more collaborative learning, you might be in interested in structured reading/discussion group cohorts. In addition to introductory videos, you can find many more materials on our resources page!

Looking to make an impact with your work? 80,000 Hours provides research and support to help people do just that! They provide lots of freely available research on a number of high-impact careers, through their career guide, key ideas series, podcast, job board, problem profiles, and career reviews.
There a number of other effective altruist organizations that could also be useful if you’re a student, mid-career professional, woman or non-binary person, or otherwise! Check out our careers page for more info.
